Welcome Back Letter

Dear Hidden Valley Students, Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!  I hope you all had a wonderful and safe summer.  Below you will find information for the start of the school year, bell schedule, August/September Calendar of events, etc.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.  We will be following County, State and Federal guidelines along with district protocols regarding Covid-19 precautions.  I will continue to provide information and updates on new Covid protocols as they come out.  As of today:

  • Wearing masks at school and on school buses is highly recommended
  • Parents and Guardians are allowed to walk onto campus to drop-off or pick-up their children
  • Please do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well.  We will continue to use the Isolation Tent for sick children while parents are called to pick up their child.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): I have ordered a great deal of hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, gloves, masks, etc. for Hidden Valley. We have a good inventory on campus to start the year.

Drop-off and Pick-up:  Please be aware of these safety/traffic concerns:

  1. No double parking near the school. This is a dangerous practice for our students.
  2. Remind children to cross streets within crosswalks.  At the signalized intersection of Chanate and Hidden Valley, a crossing guard is present every day.
  3. If you drop-off/pick-up near the Kindergarten area please remember to respect the rights of the buses that this space is designated for.  If we work together we can share this space.
  4. Hidden Valley is an “Idle Free” school.  We work with Sonoma County Spare the Air Resource Team to reduce vehicle idling to improve air quality at school.
  5. As we did last year, every family will be provided a placard to place on your car dashboard with the name of your student(s).  This greatly helped streamline pick-up at the end of the day.

School snacks at recess and lunch:  State and Federal funding allows all children to receive a free snack and lunch at school this year.  This is wonderful news to make sure all of our students are fed and supported.

Facilities:  Our amazing custodial team has spent the summer cleaning and sanitizing our classrooms.  We will continue to use the cleaning protocols from last year so every classroom is sanitized every evening.
