Principal's Update #2 4/18/22
Posted 4/18/22

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here are the latest updates for Hidden Valley.   The Book Fair is running this week!  Students will be visiting the Book Fair through their classes.  This Friday is Earth Day!  We have an assembly with a modified bell schedule.  Please see below for the lunch and assembly schedules.  We will be holding an Open House on May 19th.  We are currently working on our schedule and will have more to follow.

Play Structure Update:
The play structure has been approved by the Board of Education and we are working on a construction timeline starting this June/July!

Covid Updates:
We have seen an uptick in the number of Covid cases at Hidden Valley over the last two weeks.  Please remind your child to wash their hands.  Here are the pool testing dates for Hidden Valley for the remainder of the year:
4/18/22, 5/2/22, 5/16/22

Library:  Last day to check-out books is Friday May 6th.   After this, library books and the library will not be available until next school year. All library books are due back by Friday, May 13, 2022.

Mrs. Lewis:  The book that received the most votes at our school was "Hair Love"!

Volunteers:  We have new information from the district on parents/guardians who wish to volunteer.  Lisa has been working on an update for us.  Here is the updated info:

  • The district launched a new volunteer system called Be A Mentor. This system should be easier for parents to use and will follow the parent as their child moves to any school within the district. This system requires volunteers to create an account and enter their own documents
  • Potential volunteers will still need to provide:
    • 1. Current TB Test
    • 2. Covid vaccination card
    • 3. Mandated Reporter training certificate
  • Fingerprints are needed if a volunteer will be working alone with students, volunteering on a weekly basis, or driving/chaperoning on fieldtrips. The process can take between 4-6 weeks.
  • The new system will be able to generate an email or letter notifying the parent when they are able to get fingerprinted (with directions) and when their TB test is expiring, etc.
  • Please continue to have parents reach out to Lisa Phillips  if they need information or help.
